In order to better inform the Grants Online community of the latest changes within the system, "Release Notes" are being provided that identify system corrections and updates. Some notes may have a technical language about them. If you have any questions about Grants Online release notes please email us at grantsonline.qanda@noaa.gov.

Release Notes for Grants Online Version 3.07
Date Deployed: August 1, 2009

Global
a. The NOAA banner on the Grants Online login page has been replaced with a new Department of Commerce banner to reflect the rollout of the system to other bureaus in the Department.
b. Minor workflow issues with dropdown options on various tasks have been fixed. (Ticket 34534)

Inbox Tab
a. Grants Officers now have the ablility to use the Task Management feature to reassign tasks for all roles given to GMD users. (Ticket 34535)
b. Due to lack of use and to reduce confusion, the Send Message Functionality has been removed from Grants Online. (Ticket 31270)

Applications Tab
a. The problem that prevented some users from viewing the Award History Report has been resolved. (Ticket 35251)
b. Grants Specialists can no longer reject an award file if there is a task on that award file open at FALD. (Ticket 34756)
c. Search options and search results throughout the system are now limited by Bureau for users other than Help Desk personnel. (Tickets 34757, 34531, 34539)
d. The problem that inadvertently deleted Congressional Districts from recipient organizaton profiles - and thus prevented them from transferring properly to the GNS system - has been resolved. (Ticket 35265)
e. Additional modifications were made to simplify and reduce errors in Review Event and Selection Package processing (Ticket 34670)
f. The Application detail page can now be saved without all required fields being entered; however, no workflow can be started until all required fields have data. (Ticket 35206)
g. The Construction/Non-Construction indicator on the Applications detail page is now required and a Construction/Non-Construction indicator has been added to the Applications search screen. (Tickets 35206, 35207)
h. A warning message on the "Minimum Requirements" page will now remind users to start the "Notify Recipients" task on Universal RFAs (i.e. those that are not Competitive). (Ticket 35264)
i. GMD Checklist Updates - Cosmetics modifications were incorporated to make the page more user friendly. Default responses have been removed to force GMD staff to make a specific selection in each category. (Tickets 34533, 34818, 34474, 21740)
j. Special Award Condition (SAC) Updates - SAC due dates are no longer limited to the end of the month. Also, regardless of the SAC due date, no notifications are sent out until an award has been accepted. (Ticket 35317)
k. SACs can now be edited by GMD personnel if award offer sent to a recipient is returned for revisions. (Ticket 34537)
l. A "Validate ACCS Lines" option has been added to the Procurement Request task for Budget Officers if that action has not yet been completed. This will provide a hint as to what needs to be done if the "Approve" option is not available. (Ticket 35138)
m. Intermittent problems in the MSI section of the PO Checklist have been resolved. (Tickets 34073)
n. Cosmetic change - The word "Nepa" in the drop-down box at the bottom of the NEPA details page for selecting a NEPA Official is now written in ALL CAPS ("NEPA"). (Ticket 35231)
o. Functionality was added to the PO Checklist, Amendment, and Applications tables to replace non-ASCII characters in Project Title/Description and Statutory Authority created by copying from a Word document. (Ticket 35244)
p. From the Attachments link on any Award File, display all attachments for award file documents under that Award File along with the ones attached directly to the Award File itself.

Award Tab
a. A few repairs and enhancements were made to the Close Out and Deobligation processes. (Tickets 35216)
b. Workflow has been repaired on Project Progress Report when the Authorized Rep or submitting PI/PD returns it to Agency while Optional Reviewer workflow is open. (Ticket 32787)
c. Functionality has been added for the Program Officer to withdraw a Release of Funds (Partial Funding) action. (Ticket 35245)
d. The problem that prevented Program Officers from finding anything when searching for reports has been fixed. (Ticket 35240)
e. The "Other" AAR has modified so that it does not automatically become an amendment. There is an option in the Federal dropdown list to turn it into an amendment action if needed. (Ticket 34955)
f. A new feature has been added to allow Federal Staff to add and maintain supplementary award information. (Ticket 34275)
g. Cosmetic change for clarity - the phrase "with Final Full Report" was added to the three middle options under the SF-425 section of the "View Reporting Frequencies" page. (Ticket 35328)
h. The Correspondence and Federal Reports section for Federal staff was enhanced to allow the user to lock the record as needed. (Ticket 35375)

Reports Tab
a. The FAADS Report was updated to (1) select correct agency code for additional DOC bureaus in Grants Online, (2) use "00" as the Congressional District for at-large states, and (3) replace "SAI Not Applicable" with "N/A" (Ticket 35355)
b. AWARD TRACKING REPORT Updates - The Award Tracking Report was updated to remove obsolete columns and rearrange the remaining columns. Also, "Recovery Act" and "Construction" columns were added to the Award Tracking table and report.

Don't forget to start workflow:
Remember to check your Inbox Tasks before logging out of the system to make sure there are no additional tasks that need to be done. When you start workflow on a document the first task is usually sent to your own inbox to allow you to review it before starting the workfow route.
