SECTION
1. PURPOSE.
This
Order prescribes the emblem and the approved manner
of use for identification of the NOAA Commissioned
Corps.
SECTION
2. GENERAL.
The
emblem consists of a full globe, topped by a spread
eagle, facing dexter (right),
the breast of the eagle
carrying a shield, and the globe superimposed on crossed
fouled anchors. The whole is enclosed within concentric
circles, within which is the legend: "NOAA Commissioned
Corps - 1917". The emblem is illustrated on page
1.9 of the NOAA Visual Communication Standards Handbook.
SECTION
3. POLICY.
The use of this emblem shall be restricted exclusively
to the following:
a. on publications or documents relating exclusively
to the NOAA Commissioned Corps;
b. to identify the NOAA Commissioned Corps as a uniformed
service;
c. in joint-use facilities where the NOAA Commissioned
Corps is represented along with other uniformed services;
and
d.
on souvenirs, programs, or placecards at NOAA Commissioned
Corps-sponsored activities.
SECTION
4. EFFECT ON OTHER ISSUANCES.
This Order supersedes NOAA Directives Manual (NDM)
68-14, NOAA Commissioned Corps Emblem, dated November
15, 1977.
